Did you grow up with Tintin? Or did your Tintin adventures begin at a later entry point?

We really enjoy the comic books, but the movie, The Adventures of Tintin (2011), really kicked off our love for the world of Tintin and  his trusty loyal friend, Snowy. Tintin has been around since 1929 in many media forms. It wouldn’t surprise me to find there is a large fan base.

I crocheted this cute little pup for my son last year for Halloween. The kid dressed up as Tintin and my husband dressed up as the bumbling Captain Haddock. This cuddly puppy made the perfect accessory for their Tintin Halloween theme.

The legs and the body of my Snowy ended up a little smaller than the pictures on the pattern. I am not quite sure why this happened because I used a 4.25MM hook so I did expect a larger appearance. The pattern calls for a 4.00MM hook. I do have the tendency to crochet very tightly. Either way, it all worked out. Besides, crafting is all about making it your own. The perfectionist in me just comes out when it does not look exactly like the picture.

I used black and white Red Heart Supersaver yarn for Snowy. The pattern is easy to follow and understand. This is not amigurumi so it will come out larger like a stuffed animal. This Snowy is great for a little cuddle while reading some Tintin and drinking hot chocolate on a cool autumn day.

The pattern was created by Melanie Loy on Ravelry. I usually try to share free patterns, but it was a reasonable price at $3.50. I looked all over the place for a free Snowy pattern I was happy with and came up empty handed. This is the pattern I chose to go with instead and I am very happy with the results.

I am not yet comfortable with creating my own patterns, but I do admit it would be really helpful for those times when I do not want to pay for a pattern. I think I need a little more experience before I try such an endeavor. Do you create your own crochet patterns? If you do, how did you learn to do it? I would really like to hear about the process.
